A newborn baby is truly a magical gift!
They are a reason to strive a little harder, be better and love more. I’ve seen newborn babies mend relationships. I’ve seen them turn grumpy old men into smiling baby-talking-saps. Having a baby will flip your world upside down. You hear about being sleep deprived or how hard things can be, but I don’t think I’ve ever heard how much a baby will shake you at your core. Babies hold a true power to heal, inspire and mend humanity on so many levels.
This time of the year is often a difficult time for me personally. January falls right after Holiday chaos. We celebrate three birthdays, for our three young children and all within a month. The kiddos are home from school for almost 2 weeks. And while this is all wonderful because we are truly blessed in every capacity. This time of the year, becomes a huge vacuum to the wallet, lack of time to do it all, and probably a bit soul draining.
This time of year for small business owners, brings an almost eerie quietness. If we weren’t being pounded with snow, I’m sure you’d see tumbleweeds blowing around. My Hudson photography studio goes from being completely swamped with Holiday photo sessions, to complete crickets. For some, they would maybe take this time to vacation and rest. As a creative, if I’m not creating, a dark cloud hovers over and all creative juices are blocked. I call it the dreaded “Winter Funk”.
Just a little over a week into the New Year, I received an inquiry to photograph a 7 week newborn baby boy. And momma requested a woodland theme. The creative flood gates opened with that one call! Planning, styling and customizing a newborn baby sessions brings so much joy to my clients, but also to myself. This sweet baby boy’s session warmed my heart and the bond of love displayed by this family was truly lifting. This sweet baby boy inspired so much joy in my studio last weekend! I am truly grateful for the special healing gifts babies hold.
To his loving parents:
